Carols by Candlelight with Poscimur
Our Lady of Lourdes, Lee, London SE12 set the scene for a Carols by Candlelight Concert with Poscimur along with ‘Sheringham High School’ from Norfolk. Proceeds from the event went to Breast Cancer Care and the
KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust
The choirs performed a beautiful mix of carols and readings with a short organ interlude. Here we see them in procession during the afternoon rehearsals. Poscimur sponsor SHS; paying for their membership of the Royal School of Church Music and inviting senior choristers to sing at various London based catherdrals to assist them with their participation in the RSCM “Voice for Life” scheme
During the candlelight concert
Mr Graeme Groom, KLRT Founder Trustee and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, spoke about the two charities. Graeme told of the challenging job for patients facing trauma and the Team’s work including that with armed forces personnel. After the concert a retiring collection was held for Breast Cancer Care & the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust.
After the concert Poscimur and the SHS Choir process out of the Church
Glad sights of festive refreshments provided by the choirs & their helpers and a welcome respite from the cold weather greet the singers and guests and give them a chance to hear about Poscimur and our Trust from our Founder Trustee Consultant Surgeons: Graeme, Sarah and Mark who give their private time freely for the Trust and its patients
So why Poscimur? Formed in 1991 the choir sings services in cathedrals during cathedral choir holidays across the UK. Catherine Thomas, Choir Administrator, who underwent knee surgery in 2010 and 2012, suggested that half of the proceeds of their Annual Christmas Concert should go to our Trust. This is the third year that Poscimur has sung for the Trust and we hope this will become an annual tradition. The next concert date is already set for Saturday 14th December, 2013. We hope you will join us!
Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas in 2012 and all good wishes for a happy and safe 2013
