In 2012 Trustees Mark Phillips and Karen Sherris organised a wine tasting evening at the Clarendon Hotel, Blackheath, which took place on the 9th November 2012. The evening supported by ‘All about Wine’ was a chance for people to come and hear about the work of the charity and learn about old and new wines with friends.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Lambeth came to the event and wearing the chains of office we see them talking to Consultant Surgeon Mark Phillips and Trustee Karen. Lambeth’s current Mayor, Clive Bennett has a blog page website and he will be writing a report on the evening and the work of the Trust very shortly. Mark Phillips warmly welcomed the evening and introduced the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust.
All About Wine, Piers and Duncan then took the show and poured and gave delicious information about wine…
Founder of the charity Graeme Groom’s table enjoying the samplings along with Trustee Sue Sawyer and then Graeme explained about 9 Platoon, about to screen on television, highlighting the work that the surgeons carry out in limb reconstruction patients who have been on the front line (below left). The food was welcomed by our tasters and an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets. Co-Chair Tony Bertin and Sarah Phillips talked further on our fundraising events and work of our charity. Our raffle was then drawn. On the right we see Ben Frost who is currently undergoing limb reconstruction with Consultant Mr Om Lahoti.

Surgeons Graeme and Mark (left) both inspired the idea of the charity back in 2006 and are delighted with its growth and envisaged longevity. Trustees Mark and Karen were delighted that the evening proved to be a huge success and raised £2,600.00 for patients of the KCH Limb Reconstruction Trust. Why not come and join in with our charity, it is hugely rewarding and you can meet friends and help others.
